Printing at the Library

This guide details the various methods available for printing from mobile devices.

iOS Printing

Setup: 

Launch the app.  The first launch will require configuring the app's settings to connect with LLU's Pharos Print server. Fill in the following information.  (If the configuration screen is not present, touch the gear icon.)

Server name = lluprint.llu.edu

Server Port = 443

Printing:

Most of the time, the "Print" option in iOS apps will not send your document to the LLU printers. These options are for Apple's AirPrint-supported printers.  You have to share your document with the Pharos Print app for printing or upload a supported file type directly from the Pharos Print app.  

  1. iOS apps might have the "Open in" iOS open in icon or "Export"iOS export icon option.  Word for iOS actually uses "Print" then "Open in Another App iOS open in another app icon".  For other apps, you might need to touch the share icon   then choose the "Open in" another app iOS open in another app icon" icon.  
  2. Scroll through the list of choices until you find "Open in Pharos Print" iOS Pharos Print icon. Sign into Pharos Print if necessary.  The print job is sent to the Pharos print server for processing. 
  3. Another method is to upload a supported file type directly from the Pharos Print app.  Tap the "Upload" Pharos Print app upload iconicon then browse and select the file you want to print.  The file will be sent to the Pharos print server for processing.  
  4. When processing is complete, the print job will be available in the Job List. Print options can be changed and the job printed.

  5. Use the "Print Options" to make changes to the document's color, duplexing, pages per sheet, or copies.
  6. Tap on the printer icon and use the search to select the appropriate printer.  Search by school code such as SM for Medicine, SP for Pharmacy, Lindsay, or DW for Del Webb Library. 
  7. Ensure you have enough funds for your print job.  If not, tap on the "Add Funds" icon and use PayPal to add money to your account. 
  8. When you are ready and near the selected printer, touch the "Print" icon to pay for and release your print job. You can also swipe your badge at a nearby release station to pay for and release your print job.
  9. NEW Now you can tap the QR Code icon when you are near the printer and scan the printer's QR Code with the app.  This will automatically set the printer and all you need to do is confirm your print job. 

Management:

Additional options available in the Pharos Print app are:

Activity:  Shows your past print activity.  You can specify a date range or view all.  You can sort by Activity Type which will show your printing, copying, and library computer logins.

Delete/Refresh/Upload:  These options change or modify the display.  The Delete button will delete the selected print job from the Job List.  Once deleted, the job is no longer available.  The Refresh button will refresh the display with new data.  The Upload button provides the ability to upload approved documents to the print queue straight from the Pharos Print app.  Click on the Upload button and a browse option will be displayed where you choose the document to be uploaded.  Tap the file you want to be printed and it will be sent to the queue. It will show up in the Job List. 

Preview:  Opens a print preview window to verify your print options before printing.
