Using the Catalog

Finding books

Find books from the library homepage search by entering keywords, book title, or author.

  • Below is an example of results after entering keywords into the search box.  Notice:
    • The arrow on the left shows different ways you can limit your search.
    • The ovals indicate how you can tell at a glance if we have the book physically, or electronically (we often have both formats).
    • The maroon boxes highlight how you can access the eBook from this page.  If you are off campus and are asked to login to access the item, just use your University username and password.

Access, Consult, or Read an eBook

eBooks are listed in the library catalog along with hardcopy books (enter your search in the main search box.  Below is an example of an ebook in the library catalog.  Notice the icon and the link to get to the book.

You may also search for ebooks from the Databases eBook subject list.  Arrange the databases by subject by clicking on the Subject dropdown box underneath the alphabetic navigation menu.  Then, in the drop-down box, choose eBook Collections.  This will bring up a list of ebook databases.  Read the brief description underneath the database name to choose a database.

Link+ Book Service

If you live in California or Arizona, you can use the LINK+ book service to electronically request an book not available at LLU and have it delivered to a participating library near you for checkout through the "Pick-up Elsewhere" service (normal pickup is at the home library).

Click here to see a list of participating pick-up elsewhere libraries:  http://csul.iii.com/screens/help_pu_anywhere.htm.  If you don't live near one of these libraries, a Link+ book can only be picked up at the LLU library.

LINK+ may be accessed directly at csul.iii.com or while using the LLU Library catalog.  Books may be borrowed if they are listed as "available" in the union catalog.  An item may arrive at the requestor's library in 2 to 4 days and will be held for up to 10 days.  The loan period is 21 days with one 14-day renewal.  There is no charge to request or borrow LINK+ materials.
