X9 default import filter for Google Scholar journal title information puts title in wrong field.

Fix:  download an updated EndNote Import filter here:  (do not download all filters, rather, scroll down and download the one filter by clicking this button )

For PCs:  After downloading the updated “EndNote Import” filter from the above link, copy the “EndNote Import.enf” file from downloads folder and paste in the location: C:\Program Files (x86)\EndNote X9\Filters.  (For further instructions, see "For Everyone"..)

For Macs:   From the Finder icon, open up Applications and select the EndNote X9 folder.. Drag the Import Filters from your Downloads, into the Filters folder that is currently displayed in the EndNote X9 Applications window.

For Everyone:  Note: You will get a prompt to replace the existing EndNote Import filter, please click on “Yes” and replace it. Once done, close and reopen the EndNote program and then try to import the .enw files.

Downloading Issues: The EndNote software does not download from MyLLU account and displays an error message. This may occur if the program is downloaded wirelessly. If you encounter this problem, please contact us at x 44588 or bring in your laptop and we will help you put the program on your laptop.

Running the program asks for a product key:  This occurs on PCs when after downloading the EndNote file, patrons double click on the folder which looks like the EndNote program.  This is an error as they first need to extract/unzip the files. The solution is to uninstall, reinstall and extract/unzip the files.

Installation for a Site License Copy of EndNote on Windows

  • If you have a previous version of EndNote installed, you should uninstall it using Control Panel before installing the new version.
  • When you download EndNote from myLLU you are provided with two files to install the program, an ENX8Inst.msi installer and a license.dat file. These two files must be together in the same folder for the installation to run without asking for a product key. If you are given a zipped file containing these two files, as in the example file shown below, you will need to extract them from the zipped file before running the installer. Right-click on the file, then select the Extract All option as shown below.
  • Use the Browse button to select the folder the files will be placed in after extraction, then click the Extract button.

The files will be extracted to the selected folder. Keep the two files together and double-click on the ENX9Inst.msi file to start the installation.

In the window below, click the Next button to continue.

  • In the next window, click the installation type (it is recommended that you choose 'Typical') and click Next.
  • By default, the program will be installed in the C:\Program Files (x86)\EndNote X9\ folder, but you can change this if you need to. It is best to leave it with the default location unless it is necessary to put it in another folder for some reason, such as a lack of space on the C drive. Click the Next button to continue.

  • Click the Finish button when you see the window below saying EndNote has been successfully installed. You are now ready to begin using EndNote
